DLT Tapes
Since 1989, Deltamedia.com has been a premier resource for blank media. We started out selling audio cassettes and VHS tapes, and while we still sell those products today, we've added many other styles of blank media to our inventory. For example, we now sell many forms of digital blank media (such as DVD-Rs and CD-R/Ws). We also sell data media, like memory sticks, DLT tapes, and DAT tapes.
Data media is designed for data storage. The data storage which is appropriate for backing up a home computer may not be up to the task of backing up corporate data or sensitive data. For instance, a CD is fine for backing up your personal address book or your digital album of JPegs. But DLT tapes (digital linear tapes) are more appropriate for backing up the files of big companies.
In addition to DLT tapes from Quantum, Maxell, and Fuji, we also carry SDLT (Super DLT) tapes from Maxell. DLT tapes use magnetic tape to record info; SDLT tapes add optical systems that "read" servo patterns on the magnetic tape's reverse side. The DLT cartridges we sell through Deltamedia.com are usually coated with a special ceramic coating to protect and preserve them.
These tapes are quite durable. The Fuji 40/80GB tape we sell is good for half a million tape passes, and has a head life of at least 15,000 hours. The ceramic coating contributes to the tape's remarkable longevity.
